In order to provide a safe experience for visitors in the face of the next reactivation of domestic and international tourism in Peru, since the middle of the year the Peruvian government, in coordination with the private sector, has been approving various biosafety protocols to guarantee the health of travelers and sector workers.

SANITARY PROTOCOLS FOR INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS

Since October 5th, commercial flights have been resumed to seven Latin American countries, marking a great step towards the reactivation of the tourism sector in Peru. Thus, among the guidelines to be followed by international passengers is to present the negative result of a molecular test carried out at a maximum time of 72 hours before the trip. It must be shown at the departure lounge of the airport where the trip begins. More information here.

SANITARY PROTOCOLS FOR TRAVEL AND TOURISM AGENCIES

Travel and tourism agencies are one of the main links for travelers with destinations. Because of this, it is extremely important to allow this link to be enabled for the return trips. Among the main standards are the use of a mask, a provision that is reflected in all protocols so far. Likewise, the use of digital media is prioritized for the exchange of information and / or payments. Constant disinfection, not only of common spaces, but also the availability of a disinfectant solution for attendees, as well as respecting the physical distance between people, among others.

SANITARY PROTOCOLS FOR CATEGORIZED HOTELS

Accommodations are a very important element during a trip. Hotels become tourist’s homes during their stay in the destination. Thus, hotel companies must provide confidence and security to the travelers.

The most outstanding sanitary measures include the verification of the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), disinfected baggage, interaction in common areas, constant disinfection of each area: reception, lobby, elevators, stairs, administrative areas, etc.

SANITARY PROTOCOL FOR HOSTELS

A characteristic of this accommodation is the service provided in shared rooms, therefore, among the sanitary measures, it is specified that the distribution of the

beds in hostels accommodation will have a distance of no less than two meters or the implementation of screens or physical barriers.

The hostels that have cabins will only use one of the beds and schedules will be established, in coordination with the guests in order to use the common bathrooms and showers.

TOURIST GUIDING HEALTH PROTOCOLS

The tourist guides will be a key piece during the reactivation of the tourist activity, verifying the correct use of the whole group, of the protection equipment and the compliance with the sanitary protocols established in the places to visit.

They will have their work materials and tools, duly protected and disinfected, as well as their personal protective equipment. The managed groups will be of a maximum of 8 people.

SANITARY PROTOCOLS FOR ADVENTURE TOURISM, RAFTING AND TREKKING

Considered among the first tourist segments to return among the measures arranged are the establishment of social bubbles of a maximum of 8 people who have a family connection or travel together for more than 7 days.

Likewise, if equipment is used, cleaning and disinfection is arranged before and after the activity. If the service lasts more than one day, a number will be assigned per passenger and the respective equipment. In the case of tents, they will be disinfected before they leave the warehouse and again disinfected at the time of assembly and disassembly.

SANITARY PROTOCOLS IN NATURAL PROTECTED AREAS

Nature tourism will also be one of the first to resume due to its development in open spaces. For this reason, the Service of Protected Natural Areas of Peru (SERNANP) has established the guidelines for visits when tourist activity is restored.

A capacity reduction (less than 50%) was ordered, the sale of entrance tickets will be by electronic means and in advance. In addition, visitors must submit a health affidavit prior to ticket control. More information here.
