Peru receives good news at the start of the International Tourism Trade Fair, FITUR, 2021. The World Travel & Tourism Council announced that it will incorporate PROMPERU as its destination partner.

The South American country participates in FITUR 2021 with a delegation that attends in person to this great world fair held in the city of Madrid, Spain and it is led by the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism of Peru, Claudia Cornejo, the Director of Tourism of PROMPERU, María del Sol Velásquez, tour operators, travel agencies and businesspeople.

The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) represents the international private travel and tourism sector and as the global authority on the industry, promotes sustainable growth and motivates governments and international organizations with initiatives to create jobs, generate prosperity and drive social impact.

“It is an honor to welcome PROMPERU as a member of WTTC where it now shares a seat with Presidents, Chairs and Chief Executives of leading private sector travel and tourism companies,” said Maribel Rodríguez, WTTC Acting CEO.

PROMPERU is a specialized technical agency attached to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism, it is responsible of the global promotion of tourism to Peru, as well as actively encouraging exports and attracting foreign investment. Its actions describe it as a dynamic entity that has the backing of the private sector in favor of economic reactivation to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic that affected the world when we talk about social and economic dynamics.

“I ratify this agreement with the conviction that it will be beneficial for all. Peru is a dream destination for millions of tourists from around the world, our wide geography allows us to offer wide open spaces for nature, adventure, culture and history tourism, we are an ancient culture that looks to the future eager to welcome our visitors with the best of our cuisine, handicrafts, dances and above all with the joy and cordiality that identifies us globally,” said Claudia Cornejo, Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism of Peru.

A few days ago, Peru was recognized as the main tourist attraction for birdwatching worldwide. Authorities hope that the new post-pandemic dynamics will once again activate Peruvian destinations such as Machupicchu, Kuélap, the Colca Canyon, the cities of Lima, Cuzco, Arequipa, the Amazon River, the Moche Route and the Nazca Lines, among many other world-class attractions.

The agreement between both entities has been signed by Maribel Rodriguez, Acting CEO of WTTC and Claudia Cornejo, Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism of Peru, who with their signatures make effective the entry of PROMPERU to WTTC.
