As part of Berlin’s Fashion Week, Peru Moda Europe took place on 4th of July at the German capital.
16 Peruvian clothing companies participated to introduce to the European market products like cotton t-shirts, alpaca sweaters and coats, as well as cotton garments for babies and home textiles were in high demand.
More than 45 buyers from all over Europe attended this commercial platform, including representatives of well-known brands such as Missoni, Victoria Beckham, Ted Baker, Ragman, Gocco, Harmont & Blaine and CWF, among others.
As this year’s PeruModa fair concentrated its campaign efforts to the “Believe to be Sustainable” phrase, the same concept was promoted at Berlin as well – creating awareness about how the big textile brands produce fashion and the impact that the industry has on the environment – something that the buyers expressed their satisfaction with, along with the design of the Peruvian offer.
Manufacturers specialised in Alpaca wool and members of the World Fair Trade Organisation presented top quality garments from natural fiber like alpaca wool blankets and knitted clothing. “Alpaca wool can qualitatively compare with fine merino wool and cashmere,” Nelly Canepa, Director at Allpa, said to FashionUnited. In addition, companies that exclusively work with pima cotton showcased t-shirts and cotton garments for babies. “The fibers in pima cotton are the longest in the world and therefore very soft and refined,” Michael Chabaneix, Director of Corp All Cotton said to FashionUnited.
